After the warm weekend we experienced here last weekend, it is apparent that spring is nearly upon us. This is a time for new growth and the opening of my new practice at Olivetti Chiropractic! After spending the past three years in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, I found myself missing the seasons of Pennsylvania. I’ve discovered that there is nothing more healing and nourishing than finding my way back to my roots.

Roots, as displayed in my logo, represent the core of my practice. My reasons were twofold. 1: the Root and Branch theory used in my medicine, and 2: I am proud of where I come from and am eager to help the people that have helped me become who I am today.

In Chinese Medicine, diagnosis and treatment are based on the “Root and Branch” which addresses the branch (i.e. the symptoms) while also getting at the root, ensuring that the branches don’t rear their ugly heads in the future. Treating the symptoms, which conventional medicine is successful at, can certainly make you feel better quickly. However, it does not ensure that the symptoms will not come back in the future, once you are done with medication. Chinese medicine, while a more gradual healing approach, strives to ensure that your symptoms do not return. This is why you often hear the term “preventative medicine” used to describe Acupuncture. However, I would like to stress that I use Chinese Medicine as an integrative approach, in conjunction with Western Medicine.

When moving out of Central Pennsylvania, I wasn’t looking back. “I’m outta here!” However, the accumulation of years and adventures caused me to take inventory of what was important to me. After the past few visits to this area for holidays, I realized that it was time to come home. When I discovered that my roots are important to me, I became interested in what is important to others. I find that in this area people know who they are and why they are here, and the most common answer is “because this is where I am from”.
